We support the reliability, security,
and advancement of New York’s power grid.
Citizens for Responsible Power advocates for common-sense and fiscally responsible policies that help fortify our grid’s reliability and control costs while energizing the upstate economy.
OUR MISSION
Citizens for Responsible Power is a non-partisan, coalition that focuses on educating New Yorkers on the facts, realities, and impacts of government-controlled and privately-owned power systems.
The coalition supports maintaining the responsible expertise of current energy and service providers in New York State to ensure the affordability and sustainability of our energy utilities.
Our Goal
Our goal is to advocate for common-sense and fiscally responsible policies both at the local and state levels, that support the reliability, security, and advancement of New York’s power grid.
WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN
Proponents have failed to consider the serious concerns of a government-controlled power system, including:
Lack of Government Efficiency
We’ve seen dysfunction and inefficiency throughout many areas of government, so why would this time be any different? The government should not be in charge of managing, organizing, and implementing our power. We need an affordable and reliable electric grid overseen by experts, not one that can be easily influenced by special interests.
Loss of Private Sector Jobs & Energy Sector Expertise
We need an affordable and reliable electric grid overseen by experts, not one that can be easily influenced by special interests or jeopardizes private sector employment opportunities.
Tax and Financial Implications
New Yorkers already pay some of the highest energy prices in the nation with various taxes, fees, and surcharges accounting for 25%-30% of a typical bill. This is on top of the costs associated with government mandates.
Threats to Our Grid’s Reliability
Everyday New Yorkers deserve the comfort of knowing that whether they are at home or their place of business, the heat and lights will come on – especially in cold winter months. We know from experience that government intervention only slows things down and passes costs on in the form of increased taxes.
Together, we can ensure that the government remains out of the equation in order to fortify our grid’s reliability, help control costs, and energize the upstate economy.
